SALARY: £40,000 – £45,000
TERMS: Full time. Two years fixed term with potential to move to a permanent contract
LOCATION: London, Cardiff, or remote within UK. (Currently all our staff are working at home and can attend offices on an optional basis. This situation is likely to continue until at least January 2022).

We are seeking an experienced Business Development specialist to help us grow and diversify Elrha’s funding portfolio. Working closely with staff across the organisation, you will establish and implement our new business development strategy. This is a great opportunity to create a lasting impact in the organisation by setting the foundations for a strong and effective business development and fundraising function.

This new role in Elrha will drive business development across all Elrha’s programmes and thematic areas by leading and providing effective support to the programme teams throughout the funding cycle. This will range from cultivating existing relationships and transforming them into funding opportunities and mapping and landscaping donor funding streams, to coordinating high quality proposals in response to these opportunities. The role will also create and maintain Elrha’s business development procedures, tools and information systems. As a key element in leading the business development function in Elrha, the role is also responsible for setting up, disseminating and monitoring the organisational business development strategy, aimed at expanding the current £69.5 million active portfolio.

The profile of a successful candidate is a business development manager with proven experience of working with a diverse range of donors and upstream partners (governments, multi-lateral institutions, trust & foundations, corporates), which has resulted in excellent understanding of their strategies and funding models, as well as strong knowledge on how to lead and steward relationships and strategic engagement with them. A strong track record in proposal development and management is also an essential success factor for this role, as is experience in developing fundraising strategies and targets, and delivering against them.

In addition, you will also have proven skills and abilities in:

· working independently and proactively to delivering solutions and results.

· multitasking, establishing priorities and meeting deadlines and targets.

· providing effective support and collaborating with staff across teams and functions, with staff working in different locations

· effectively managing a variety of relationships, showing strong inter-personal and influencing skills.

Covid-19 restrictions permitting, Elrha’s staff are usually based at our offices in London and Cardiff. While the preference is for the Business Development Lead to be able to work in one of these locations, remote working may be possible for the right candidate.
