About TDA:

The Day After is a Syrian-led organization that works for democratic transition in Syria. TDA works with

its partners among Syrian CSOs and international human rights’ organizations to influence Syrian and

non-Syrian stakeholders for the favor of the democratic transition and to keep transitional justice and

accountability as a high priority during transition.

Through its programs, TDA aims at strengthening the capacity of key civil society actors working on

transitional justice and rule of law as well as representatives of victims of human rights and amplifying

their voices within policy debates through developing widely supported, evidence-based

recommendations and channeling them to the negotiating parties and other stakeholders. We pursue

this mission simultaneously through “bottom-up” and “top-down” strategies to ensure that transitional

justice is not dropped off the negotiations. In addition of ensuring that relevant stakeholders are

informed and demonstrate deep understanding and support of accountability and transitional justice

related issues, TDA aims at empowering the local communities to be resilient and adopt principles of

transitional justice.

Under the direct supervision of the Head of Development and Outreach, TDA seeks a full-time

consultant to fill the position of Communications and Media Associate in its head office in Istanbul.

Key responsibilities and duties:

· Generate, edit, schedule and publish daily content on TDA’s social media pages

· Assist in the identification and drafting of news articles, human interest stories, and other content for TDA’s website, newsletters, and social media pages

· Support the identification and framing of compelling information from TDA’s reports and research to be shared with stakeholders in a variety of formats (social media cards, brochures, briefs, infographics, etc.)

· Support the planning and implementation of (social) media activities and campaigns

· Assist in building and maintaining strong and active relationships with local, national, and international media to increase TDA’s profile in Syria and internationally

· Co-ordinate the production and dissemination of periodic e-newsletter and relevant web material

· Prepare monthly reports on the statistics and insights of TDA social media and website

· Monitor news relating to transition in Syria and media coverage of TDA’s work

· Contribute to the development of M&E and progress reports

· Maintain and update a database of TDA contacts

· Collaborate closely with the Communications and Advocacy Officer and Monitoring and Reporting Officer to effectively highlight TDA’s achievements and findings

· Other related tasks as per the direct supervisor’s request.

Skills and qualifications:

· Relevant academic degree in the fields of journalism, communications, political science, media, international relations, or a related field

· Previous work experience in communications and media

· Prior experience creating original content for a variety of audiences

· Demonstrated ability to produce and manage social media content across multiple platforms

· Good understanding of the Syrian context and conflict

· Excellent written communication skills in Arabic and English

· Fluency in Arabic and English (spoken and written)

· Experience in graphic and video design strongly preferred
