Summary of position:
Under the supervision of the Director of Communications, the incumbent:
• Develops and implements communication and promotional plans to inform a French audience about the activities of the Canadian Cultural Centre (CCC) and with its partners, as well as promote Canadian artists and culture;
• Designs and writes (in French and in English), for various audiences and on a variety of media (texts; visual supports, multimedia), innovative content to promote the activities of the CCC and to inform a French audience about Canadian artists and Canadian culture;
• Contributes to increasing and diversifying the CCC’s audience by recommending cultural mediation activities, communication tools and news communication partnerships;
• Designs activities and prepares cultural mediation tools about the CCC’s exhibitions and appropriate for various audiences;
• Develops and promotes activities for youth, including online workshops;
• Coordinates and executes the CCC’s online events; prepares reports on the reach and scope of these events;
• Recommends plans and executes the CCC’s annual advertising plan; prepares reports on the reach and impacts of the ads.

 

Essential qualifications:
Candidates will initially be selected based on the essential qualifications relating to education, experience and the required linguistic profile. Qualifications constituting an asset may also be taken into account for the screening of applications. Candidates will have to clearly demonstrate, in their covering letter (750 words maximum), the manner in which they meet these criteria by explaining clearly and concretely how they meet each criterion of the essential qualifications and also, where appropriate, the qualifications considered assets. Please note that it is not sufficient simply to assert that one meets the requirements or to list current responsibilities.
Short-listed candidates will subsequently be assessed in relation to the qualifications with the help of tools such as: written exam, interview, role-play, simulation exercise, reference checks and psychometric tests.
Education:
Higher education diploma (equivalent to French baccalaureate + 2 i.e. a validated level 5 French diploma) or an equivalent Canadian degree, with a specialisation in a field relevant* to the position to be filled.
*Note: Fields relevant to the position are the following: Communication, marketing, cultural mediation and museology.
Languages:
Bilingual (French and English – both written and spoken) with excellent writing skills and excellent oral expression in both languages
Experience :
-a minimum of 3 years of relevant* and recent** experience in a full time position working in at least two of the following areas:
• promotion of cultural activities in one of the following fields: performing arts, music, literature, cinema and audiovisual
• development and implementation of communication and promotion strategies, content writing and production of diversified communication and promotion tools and platforms (press releases, newsletters, websites, social media)
• Creation of cultural mediation tools and activities and audience development.

*relevant: means in a field in relation to the position i.e. performing arts, music, literature, cinema and audiovisual
**recent: means acquired within the last five years

– Experience and excellence in public social media management (Facebook, You Tube, Twitter, Instagram).

-Experience with on-line organization of virtual events

 

Asset Qualifications:
A preference may be given to candidates who, above the essential qualifications, also possess the following asset qualification. It is incumbent upon candidates to explain and demonstrate in their motivation letter how they meet these asset criteria:
1. French level 6 higher university degree in a field related to the position: communication, marketing, cultural mediation or museology
2. Experience in the promotion of cultural activities in cultural centers or public cultural institutions
3. Experience in partnership development
4. Experience within Canadian cultural and artistic environment
If candidates satisfy the criteria listed in the asset qualifications, they must also clearly demonstrate how they meet these criteria in their covering letter and/or CV in order for these to be taken into account.

 

Organizational Needs:
• Full-time position of 5 days a week from Monday until Friday.
• Regular hours of work: 09:00 to 12:30 and 13:30 to 17:30.
• Be able and willing to occasionally work overtime on evenings to ensure presence at cultural events at the Canadian cultural center.
• Open concept working environment.
• Availability to start as of March 2021.

 

Operational Requirements:

Condition(s) of Employment:
• Be authorized to live and work as an employee in France on a permanent basis;
• Ability to obtain and maintain security clearance at the level of “Reliability” from the Canadian Government.

 

Area of selection:
This position is open to candidates who have their principal residence in France and are legally authorised to work in France permanently as an employee, and who meet all of the pre-requisites, i.e. all the essential qualifications and potentially the asset qualifications, and whose applications are received by the closing date and time. Candidates must have their principal residence in France and their permanent work authorisation in France as an employee at the time of publication of this selection process.
