The Regional Advisor, Social Policy support and advises the Regional Director, Regional Management Team, Country Offices and Governments in developing policies, strategies, programmes and systems for Social Policy and Inclusion programmes – specifically in the areas of Child Poverty, Public Finance, Social Protection, Research, and Decentralization. 

How can you make a difference?

By joining the Regional Office for South Asia, you will be responsible for providing guidance and support to Country Offices to form strategic alliances with national partners, to influence programme plans and strategies; disseminating technical research and expertise with UNICEF globally, as well as regional and national institutions and partners; ensuring effective capacity building to Offices and partners alike; enhancing financial resources through advocacy; representing and advocating for UNICEF’s programme goals and strategies with high-level and senior government officials, multilateral agencies, NGOs, UN entities, and donors; supporting emergency responses and risk assessments. 

To qualify as an advocate for every child you will have…

  • An advanced university degree (Master’s or higher) in Economics, Social Sciences, International Relations, Political Science, International Finance, or other relevant disciplines. 
  • A minimum of 12 years in the management or advisory of Social Policy programming.
  • Fluency in English is required. Knowledge of another official UN language (Arabic, Chinese, French, Russian or Spanish) or a local language is an asset.
