We are looking for a Head of Oxfam Business Advisory Service at a pivotal time of transition and change for the organisation.

The Role

In this role, you will lead the development of the next stage of the Oxfam Business Advisory Service (OBAS), which includes creating a long term strategy to ensure its sustainability and integrating the social impact advisory function and Enterprise Development Programme Lead into the team.

You will ensure that the unit continues to operate in a commercial and agile way, responding to the Private Sector market by offering a range of relevant expertise to the private sector in support of the broader Oxfam Private Sector strategy and impact, and ensuring that it meets its key financial objectives.

An ideal candidate for the role will also be / have:

  • A self-aware leader who makes a positive impact on others
  • Substantial knowledge of, and work experience relating to, the role of the private sector in poverty reduction and sustainable development, with particular experience in at least one of the following areas: gender justice, consumer goods and agriculture supply chains, social impact investment, and enterprise support and development.
  • Demonstrated ability to execute sound judgement and balance commercial priorities with social impact. Strong business development skills and experience and ability to identify opportunities and create concepts or proposals for private sector consultancy-based engagements
  • Ability to think strategically and creatively based on sound knowledge and insight into external sustainability and market trends. Excellent communication and networking skills.
  • Strong leadership and organizational skills, including the ability to meet deadlines, communicate progress on projects, manage a multi-disciplinary team, build relationships, and work with the project manager to prioritise and coordinate multiple projects concurrently.
  • To be aligned with Oxfam’s values and ability to work on global issues with sensitivity towards cultural and political issues and understanding of gender and diversity issues.
