**Head of Procurement
Location: UK Flexible (although Paisley would be the preferred location)
Full time 35 hours per week
Contract type: 24 months Fixed Term
Salary: Circa ?65,000 per annum (plus London Weighting Allowance at ?3,344 if applicable) **
We have a fantastic opportunity for proactive and influential Procurement professional to provide strategic direction and strong leadership for Procurement across the British Red Cross developing and implementing strategic procurement strategies that underpins and advances the organisation’s strategic objectives as set out in the Corporate Strategy.
More about the role
As Head of Procurement, you will be responsible for influencing an annual spend of c?90m with third party suppliers. You will lead, inspire, and develop the procurement team
ensuring that the Red Cross’ requirements are sourced from the right suppliers, utilising sound contractual and commercial arrangements, whilst mitigating risk, ensuring value for money, savings, and efficiencies against influenceable spend.
Reporting to the Director of Internal Shared Services and supporting the Executive Leadership Team,
you will provide the professional expertise, leadership, and insight for Strategic Procurement. You will design, deliver, and implement, monitor, and enhance our Procurement strategy, policy, procedures, processes, and systems to ensure that the organisation effectively procures all goods, works, and services.
In this largely autonomous role, you will be responsible for the development of the continuous improvement and overarching plans to deliver and embed our strategic sourcing plans and to maintain a robust and fit for purpose strategic procurement service that meets the requirements of the BRC.
What we are looking for
An experienced strategic Procurement leader with the proven ability to innovate and to manage change in a complex environment, you’ll have full membership of the Chartered Institute of Purchasing and Supply (CIPS) and proven experience of leading a Procurement department and developing a team
within an organisation(s) that have crossed functional and business Boundaries.
An engaging and inspiring communicator and negotiator, with the gravitas and confidence to influence and persuade senior colleagues and external audiences without direct authority or managerial control. You will have advanced senior stakeholder and supplier management skills able to establish high level effective working relationships across the organisation influencing key decision makers to lead companywide changes.
A subject matter expert across a wide scope of procurement tools & techniques, you will be required to have legal knowledge for development and management of contracts, terms and conditions, regulatory and legislative requirements, with additional demonstrable knowledge of financial, legal, and corporate social responsibility issues.
Please note: The post will manage procurement activities for spend relating to UK-wide operations and will require engagement with stakeholders throughout the UK. Post COVID restrictions, travel to other locations and work outside normal hours may be required on occasion.
