UNICEF works in 190 countries and territories to protect the rights of every child. UNICEF has spent 70 years working to improve the lives of children and their families.
For every child, hope.

Inventory comprises a significant part of UNICEF’s resources and is integral to the success of UNICEF’s objective. As such, the need to identify the types of Inventory held by UNICEF and determine the appropriate accounting for such Inventory is vital to help keep programmes operating. Adherence to related policies will ensure that Inventory is consistently and correctly accounted for, therefore a mandatory asset count is required for each office annually.

How can you help make a difference?
Under the direction of the Chief of Operations & Planning and Senior Budget Associate, the intern will establish and implement an efficient and effective asset management process for the Headquartered Division of Data, Analytics, Planning & Monitoring (DAPM). This will involve:

  1. Designing the asset management process for the division, in close consultation with key staff that will be contributing to the implementation of the process. This includes all assets, including ICT equipment
  2. Coordinating the preparation of a database of all DAPM allocated equipment with the following information: location/rooms/other locations and responsible staff and verified. This requires liaising directly with all DAPM staff, consultants and personnel to ensure UNICEF assets are accounted for
  3. Identify and introduce asset count tools.
  4. Creating a “check-in” and “check-out” system for any assets of the division, in close collaboration with DAPM staff and other divisions with roles in asset management.
  5. Design the process for requesting assets (procurement, including ICT equipment and furniture) and identify responsible staff for this role. Design the process for write-off of (ICT) equipment and introduce this process to responsible staff.
  6. Schedule and conduct the count

What can you gain from this internship?

  1. Experience with daily asset management activities
  2. Working with new supply related software (mAsset)
  3. Experience of working within a large headquarter division and liaising with partners in other divisions (Division of Finance, Administration and Management and Information, Communication and Technology Division)

To qualify as a champion for every child, you will:
