Operation Christmas Child (OCC), a ministry of Samaritan’s Purse, is searching for a Media Relations Associate to serve at our Charlotte, NC office. *This is a seasonal position starting in July 2021 and ending in December 2021

A day in the life of a Media Relations Associate:

At Samaritan’s Purse, the Gospel really is the center of all we do! We start each day with a time of devotions and spend time praying for each other, our staff and volunteers who serve around the globe. 

In the role of Media Relations Associate, you will have the opportunity to:

• Maintain your personal relationship with Jesus Christ and be an effective witness for Him
• Provide strategic media outreach to print, television, and radio outlets across the nation during the height of project season in coordination with the Media Relations team and Regional Office staff and in support of the seasonal media cycle
• Research, plan, implement, and evaluate shoebox gift recipient speaker tours’ pitching strategy
• Learn and schedule enhanced digital news releases
• Coordinate media interviews for staff and OCC volunteers; Work with Regional Offices to identify and equip interviewees with messaging support and strategy consultation
• Monitor and report media coverage and carry out database updates
• Support national community events and regional promotional events through media relations pitching and on-site event support
• Collaborate by phone and email with Regional Office staff and OCC volunteers according to internal best practices to accomplish media relations objectives
• Develop earned radio partnerships with strategically identified radio networks and/or stations
• Call on radio stations to initiate peak-of-season promotion planning
• All other duties as assigned

Qualifications & Experience:

• Two years of college or technical school; or three to six months related experience and/or training; or equivalent combination of education and experience
• Enthusiasm, strong innovation, and creative skills
• Ability to work with minimal direction; must have a high level of adaptability to changing demands
• Strong administrative skills; ability to problem solve and stay organized
• Ability to read and comprehend simple instructions, short correspondence, and memos.  Ability to write simple correspondence.  Ability to effectively present information in one-on-one and small group situations to customers, clients and other employees of the organization
• Two years of college or technical school; or three to six months related experience and/or training; or equivalent combination of education and experience
