Job Summary
This is a key position in CRS’ operational response to the COVID-19 pandemic. The position supports the Senior Advisor for Safety and Health Operations in responding to the constantly changing dynamics of the pandemic and protecting CRS staff and partners through guidance, training, support and awareness raising. An all-rounder, the Safety and Health Operations Officer coordinates and maintains the platforms for communication and
interaction on COVID-19 and key safety and health support to CRS globally.
THIS IS AN INTERNATIONAL TELECOMMUTER POSITION – CANDIDATES CAN BE BASED IN ANY LOCATION OR COUNTRY.
Roles and Key Responsibilities
COVID Operational Support

  • Support development of training materials and webinar recordings.

  • Assist in delivery of routine trainings or webinars.

  • Maintain and update MyCRS COVID resource page.

  • Publish and promote new and revised COVID guidance and ensure up to date translations of all COVID guidance and communication.

  • Collect cross-departmental COVID resource updates and prepare resource updates emails for Senior Advisor.

  • Track completion rates for COVID trainings and monitoring and tracking requirements such as vaccine status tracking.

  • Support reporting to Overseas Operations leadership and the Executive Leadership Team.

  • Support tracking COVID science, variants and other developments that may have an impact on CRS, continuity of operations and staff and partners.

  • Take the lead in scheduling and co-facilitating online webinars, presentations and training, including recording sessions, maintaining attendance records, monit
    oring the chat during events and collecting unanswered questions.

  • Coordinate collaboration efforts with Global People Services and other departments on COVID operations.

Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s Degree in a field relevant to CRS’ operations

  • Minimum three years of experience in operational support function

Knowledge, Skills and Abilities

  • Knowledge of and/or working experience in CRS program countries is preferred

  • Prior experience in international development/NGO Sector desirable

  • Experience in handling Personal Health Information (PHI) an
    d electronic PHI (ePHI) a plus

  • Strong initiative and self-motivated, with a commitment to humanitarian principles

  • Able to work without close supervision, experience with remote management

  • Quick learner, adaptable and creative

  • Excellent organization and planning skills, detail-oriented, ability to work on multiple tasks simultaneously

  • Excellent oral and written communication skills, especially talking about health issues with non-medical colleagues

  • Strong cross-cultural skills

  • Demonstrates ability to work effectively as part of a team with the relationship building skills to work collaboratively and effectively with key stake holders

  • Independent practitioner who is self-motivated to meet deadlines with evidence of problem solving and critical thinking

  • Strong administrative skills and information technology literate (Microsoft packages). Familiar with using an electronic incident and case management
    system

Preferred Qualifications

  • Certified Health Education Specialist a plus.

  • CPR/First Aid certification a plus.

Language Required: Fluency in English required; Fluency in French or Spanish, Arabic or Portuguese a plus.
Supervisory Responsibilities None
Key Working Relationships:
Internal Global Safety and Security Unit, HQ departments such as IT, HR, Procurement, Marketing & Communication, Program Quality (including Health team), Internal Audit, Ethics Unit, General Counsel and Humanitarian Response department.
External Contracted medical service providers, NGO safety and health networks, and safety and health staff of other NGOs and UN Agencies.
