The Samaritan’s Purse / World Medical Mission Post-Residency Program is designed to be a bridge for Christian Physicians, Dentists, and CRNA’s completing residency.  This two-year program is designed for Christian doctors who feel called to a career in international medical missions and would serve in a mission hospital in a foreign country. With support from Samaritan’s Purse, Christian physicians will be introduced to the blessings and opportunities of a career in medical missions while gaining valuable medical experience and sharing the love and compassion of Christ with a hurting world.

ESSENTIAL DUTIES

  • Provide comprehensive medical care as a full-time missionary physician.
  • Attend and participate in medical staff and administrative meetings.
  • Provide initial and ongoing assessment of patients that reflects knowledge of disease processes that include evaluation of the cognitive status of the patients, and a determination of their physical, psychosocial, emotional, spiritual, educational, and safety needs.
  • Demonstrate effective clinical judgment and provide appropriate therapeutic interventions.
  • Evaluate the effectiveness of interventions and revise plan of care based on expected outcomes.
  • Collaborate with other health team members and foster unity among the medical and missionary community 
  • Work with assigned mentor to develop an effective mentoring relationship.
  • Cooperate with the Post-Residency Program staff to provide receipts when necessary for reimbursement of funds.
  • Work with national and international ancillary staff.
  • Provide teaching and training to national and international staff
  • Write an end-of-term report to be submitted to the Samaritan’s Purse International Headquarters office.
  • Participate in an end-of-term debriefing and program evaluation.
  • Write monthly prayer and update letters for financial and prayer supporters.
  • Participate in an annual performance review by the hospital’s medical director.
  • Complete quarterly surveys and return them to the Post-Residency Program Manager.
