In Europe, Tdh intervenes directly or indirectly in many countries, relying on teams based in Budapest, Albania, Greece, Kosovo, Romania, Moldova and Ukraine. The Regional Office in Hungary, Budapest has been operating since 2006.

ROLE DESCRIPTION **

Terre des hommes Foundation “Lausanne” in Hungary (Tdh Hungary) is looking for a Project Officer to join the Access to Justice team to lead and monitor projects and initiatives related to child victim’s rights for our Regional Office in Europe, in liaison with country delegation teams within the region. This is a part-time position with local employment contract with Tdh Hungary.

The main responsibilities of the Victim’s Rights Project Coordinator will be to:

1. Project Management (40%)

In close collaboration with the Regional Programme Manager, Acccess to Justice and the Regional Advisor on Child Safeguarding in Europe:

§ Act as main focal point in the coordination of the project PROMISE 3

§ Maintain regular contact with CBSS staff, lead coordinator of PROMISE 3

§ Participate and report on the Child Participation Working Group, as part of Tdh’s role as Member of the PROMISE Network

§ Contribute to mid-term and annual project reporting process

§ Coordinate the implementation of the tasks and quality deliverables for which Tdh is responsible under Work Package 5 “Children’s Voices”, in partnership with our Bulgarian partner

2. Representation and Knowledge Sharing (30%)

§ Attend on behalf of Tdh Europe appropriate external meetings at Access to Justice sector level, particularly on issues related to child victim’s rights, in order to ensure that Tdh’s aims and activities are shared with partners.

§ Network with other NGOs and entities working in the area of victim’s rights, in the interest of information sharing and best practices. This includes active participation in the EU Platform on Victim’s Rights.

§ In close collaboration with the Regional Programme Manager, Access to Justice, contribute to knowledge sharing within Tdh, but also at the European level, including ensuring the accessibility and dissemination of institutional knowledge and personal knowledge in access to justice, child justice and the rights of child victims in particular

§ Liaise with the Regional Project Coordinator of the i-RESTORE, FOCUS, CLEAR-Rights and other A2J projects which involve the participation of child victims, in order to share knowledge and key information which could contribute to improve project implementation.

3. Access to Justice Programme Strategy (30%)

In close collaboration with the Regional Programme Manager, Access to Justice and other members of the Access to Justice team in Europe:

§ Contribute to drafting regional advocacy messages (briefs, policy papers, etc.) to ensure that the needs and voices of child victims are well reflected in Tdh advocacy efforts

§ Participate in designing strategies for improved access to justice and support to children in contact with the law in Europe

YOUR PROFILE

§ Relevant university degree in Law from an accredited educational institution

§ 5+ years of the work experience in designing and conducting projects in the area of children’s rights, especially of child justice

§ Work experience in criminal Justice, victimology, child protection, or development aid would be a plus;

§ Up-to-date and extensive knowledge of access to justice, child justice, victim’s rights, including restorative justice

§ Experience or sound understanding of child participation processes

§ Knowledge and experience of working with or in large international organisations

§ Ability to establish an environment of cooperation and collaboration

§ Excellent team player

§ Self-motivated, with skills to support and advise others

§ Ability to learn from difficult experiences, capitalize on mistakes and seize opportunities

§ Experience in contributing to projects with team members located in several countries

§ Excellent communication skills and high proficiency in spoken and written English. Knowledge of French or another EU language is considered an asset

§ Results-oriented and problem-solving skills

§ Capacity for rigor and precision, transparency and honesty

§ Ability to uphold high standards under pressure and with tight deadlines

§ Flexibility, availability and adaptability
