The United Nations Development Programme (UNDP) works in approximately 170 countries and territories, helping to achieve the eradication of poverty, and the reduction of inequalities and exclusion. Anchored in the 2030 Agenda for the Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs) and committed to the principles of universality, equality, and leaving no one behind, the UNDP supports countries’ efforts to strengthen frameworks for development, disaster risk reduction, and climate change. Since 1999, the UNDP has been supporting the Timorese people to move from post-conflict recovery towards sustainable development. Currently, UNDPs work focuses on supporting the building of strong and capable public institutions, inclusive and effective democratic governance, and environmental management. Hence, one of the core portfolios of UNDP Timor-Leste is the Democratic Governance Unit, under which a number of development projects are implemented. Considering the expansion of projects under the management of the Democratic Governance Unit, UNDP Timor-Leste are seeking a number of interns in a number of functions to support the successful implementation of projects. |

Required Skills and Experience |
|
Applicants to the UNDP internship programme must at the time of application meet one of the following requirements: a) Be enrolled in a postgraduate degree programme (such as a master’s programme, or higher); b) Be enrolled in the final academic year of a first university degree programme (such as bachelor’s degree or equivalent); c) Have recently graduated with a university degree (as defined in (a) and (b) above) and, if selected, must start the internship within one-year of graduation; d) Be enrolled in a postgraduate professional traineeship program and undertake the internship as part of this program. Ideally, the applicant’s education should be in a relevant field to the internship position to which they are applying for (e.g. social science, law, finance, management, etc.).
