Presentation ERIKS Development Partner

ERIKS is a Swedish NGO, based on Christian and humanitarian values, founded in 1967. ERIKS carries out long-term development and humanitarian action focusing on children’s rights, in partnership with about 60 local implementing partners spread out in 16 countries. ERIKS’ vision is to change the world by giving life to children’s dreams, and its mission is to combat poverty and vulnerability by promoting children’s rights. ERIKS is giving priority to four sectors: education and leisure; health; protection; and humanitarian action and disaster risk reduction. In East Africa, ERIKS is working in three countries: South Sudan, Uganda, and Kenya. A large share of the interventions is financed by the Swedish International Development Agency (Sida) via the Swedish Mission Council.

Outline of the position

Based in the regional head office in Kampala, you will be:

  • Overall responsible for ERIKS’ work in East Africa, in terms of programmatic content, budget and monitoring.
  • Heading the Regional Office in Kampala.
  • Managing a team of 3 employees at the Regional Office in Kampala and 1 employee in Nairobi.
  • Overall responsible for partnership with about 20 local implementing organisations.
  • Representing ERIKS in networks, advocacy coalitions and in relation to authorities and institutional donors.
  • Reporting to the International Programme Director at the Head Office in Sweden.

Job description

You will:

  • Represent ERIKS in relation to authorities, CSO networks, institutional donors, partner organisations and other actors related to ERIKS’ work in the region.
  • Supervise processes regarding current and anticipated registration of ERIKS in relevant programme countries.
  • In collaboration with co-workers elaborate an annual budget for the regional office’s internal costs and manage the finances of the regional office in accordance with approved budget.
  • Sign contracts regarding premises, water, electricity, IT services and other administrative services at the regional office.
  • Manage other staff members at the regional office, dividing work and responsibilities, elaborate annual and periodical work plans and follow up implementation of these.
  • In collaboration with Programme Director, recruit staff and make annual salary reviews in accordance with approved budget. Carry out annual development discussions and performance evaluations with staff members.
  • Lead the process of elaborating country strategies and annual country reports.
  • In collaboration with co-workers, elaborate an annual regional programme budget.
  • Sign off organisational assessments and project assessments and submit to Head Office.
  • After approval, sign project agreements and amendments with local implementing partners.
  • In collaboration with co-workers, elaborate an annual regional plan for capacity development of partner organisations.
  • Participate in elaboration of applications to back donors and calls for proposal.
  • Participate in elaboration of new steering documents, templates, and instructions.
