The Communication Technologies Division of the CTTC is looking for interested candidates in a full-time fixed-term Researcher position for its PHYCOM Department. The contract will be funded by the Catalan Government (ACCIO – Generalitat de Catalunya) through the competitive Tecniospring INDUSTRY call, see http://catalonia.com/innovate-in-catalonia/tecniospringplus.

TASKS AND RESPONSIBILITIES

The principal objective of the position is to carry out applied research on topics related to the following areas:

1.- Optical sensor design and simulation using commercial and developed software.

2.- Design and implementation of experimental setups using optoelectronic components.

3.- Fabrication and characterization of sensor prototypes with laboratory equipment.

4.-Sensor optimization.

5.- Disseminate results through scientific publications in high-quality journals and top-tier international conferences.

The selected candidate will join the PHYCOM Department and will contribute to the group activities and discussions.

QUALIFICATIONS AND COMPETENCES

  • The following qualifications and competences are required for the position:
  • The candidate should hold a PhD title on electrical and electronic engineering, or physics.
  • At least 2-years of postdoc research experience.
  • Solid understanding and project-based experience in (a subset of) the following areas:
  • Design and simulation of optical sensors.
  • Experiments using optical sensors.
  • Surface plasmon resonance sensors.
  • Micro and nano technology.
  • Excellent analytical and problem-solving skills.
  • Scientific ambition, motivation and proactive attitude.
  • Excellent communication and team-working skills.
  • Strong academic credentials, written and spoken English proficiency.
  • Simulation software: Matlab, Mathematica, Comsol.

CONDITIONS

The duration of the contract will be 2 years, starting between October 2021 and April 2022. The selected candidate will prepare jointly with CTTC their candidature to be submitted to the competitive Tecniospring INDUSTRY call (deadline: 15th June 2021).

The position corresponds to the R3 professional category at CTTC. The rank and gross salary, according to the text of the call is 58.500€/year (including company costs, which roughly corresponds to 44.000€/year of gross salary before taxes and deductions).
