Senior Policy Executive – EU Policy & Funding (Research and Innovation)

Position description

Scotland has had a long-established presence in Brussels, including 20 years in Scotland House Brussels, at the heart of the European quarter. Scotland House Brussels is home to the Scottish Government, Scotland Europa and Scottish Enterprise/Scottish Development International. We are part of Scotland’s International Network, with offices across the world including London, Dublin, Berlin, and Paris.

Part of the Scotland House Brussels team, Scotland Europa is a membership-based organisation. We help Scottish organisations foster successful European relationships, providing advice and support on EU policy, funding and engagement opportunities.

The role

Scotland Europa are looking for an enthusiastic and customer-focused individual to join our Brussels team as Senior Executiveleading our work on Research & Innovation and Horizon Europe engagement.

This is a critical role in the Scotland House Brussels team, working closely with other Scottish Government and Scotland Europa colleagues, to deliver Scotland’s strategic, coordinated approach to EU engagement in this area, in line with the Scottish Government’s commitment to maintaining Scotland’s relationship with the EU.

The ideal candidate would have a good understanding of the EU institutional context and experience of working in EU affairs in Brussels. A strong knowledge of EU policy and decision-making is essential, as well as experience in the research and innovation field.

Knowledge of Scotland, our approach to economic development and/or our work in this sector would be desirable.

Previous experience of project, network or organisational management would also benefit the role.

This position would suit a highly motivated, committed team player with strong written and oral communications, and personal networking skills, looking to develop and grow their professional experience in a dynamic, international team working for Scotland in Brussels.
