DIGITALEUROPE is looking for a (Senior) Policy Manager to support the coordination of our work on digital trade policy and international affairs.

About this role
DIGITALEUROPE places a strong emphasis on EU trade policy.  This is an important and exciting time in digital and technology, and especially in the trade policy field, with Europe having published its “Open, Sustainable and Assertive” trade strategy, and the transatlantic relationship being relaunched.  Furthermore, engagement at the multilateral level, especially at the WTO and G20/G7, will have a key part to play.
To support the coordination of our trade policy work, we are looking for a full-time (Senior) Policy Manager, permanent contract.
Key tasks and responsibilities
  • Coordinate the daily work of the Digital Trade Policy Group and its working groups on WTO and trade agreements, Market Access in Third Countries, Export Controls and Customs, and Taxation.
  • Drive consensus in the groups and support in drafting and developing position papers and other advocacy materials (e.g. letters, public consultation responses), including research and analysis.
  • Monitor EU and national policy developments of relevance.
  • Proactively contribute to DIGITALEUROPE’s overall strategic direction on trade and international relations, including in EU relations with its international partners such as the US, UK, Japan, China, India, etc.
  • Prepare and implement outreach and communications activities. Build and maintain relationships with external stakeholders.
  • Contribute to horizontal DIGITALEUROPE activities of relevance to trade/international relations, such as groups in privacy, security, data flows, standards in emerging tech such as artificial intelligence, digital transformation etc.
  • Represent DIGITALEUROPE in institutional stakeholder groups.
Required competencies and skills
  • Master level university education with 3+ years of relevant work experience (e.g. trade association, government, in-house, consultancy). Experience working in a related EU or international institution is a plus.
  • Expertise in trade policy and experience in international relations. Experience in digital and technology policies is an asset.
  • Knowledge of the EU decision-making processes and key stakeholders.
  • Excellence in English both written and spoken, and a proven track record of drafting positions papers, letters, articles, speeches, etc.
  • Relevant IT and presentation skills (particularly in Word, PowerPoint, infographics, Excel). These include using literature and data to formulate policy recommendations and key messages.
  • Experience with working across borders in an international context.
  • Ability to manage multiple issues and competing deadlines, and to approach work in a structured, forward-looking manner.
  • Self-driven and organised, and enthusiastic about supporting the work of team members.
