Team Rubicon (TR) is seeking a Sr. Director, Program Development. This person will guide the strategy, development, and continued refinement of programs designed to evolve and expand Team Rubicon’s impact of serving communities affected by disaster and humanitarian crises. This individual will lead design and development of domestic and international programming – from ability to fund through approach to monitoring and evaluation.

This role will provide strategy and oversight of the research, design and development of new programs (working in collaboration with departments such as Tech, Marcomms, People Ops and Development) to develop impact strategies, budgets, guidance, personnel requirements, learning curriculum, equipment and supplies, legal review, and in some cases new real estate, considerations. These programs are designed to meet the unique needs of the highest socially vulnerable individuals and communities.

Functional responsibility includes leading the strategy and oversight of the Doctrine and Guidance Development, Client Experience, Capabilities (services) Design and Development, Learning Design and Development, and Instructor Development and Training teams.

This role is a part of Team Rubicon’s senior leadership team and will play a critical role in the development of strategic plans and ensuring clients are central in organizational decisions. This role will also serve as a primary role to grow industry partnerships and will serve as the senior program representative for select donor partnerships.

Every day will be a challenge, but every month brings new opportunities for an organization that is quickly becoming a household name in disaster response. This position reports to TR’s SVP of Programs and Operations and is based out of TR’s National Headquarters in Los Angeles, CA.

Duties:

  • Provide a unique perspective, experience, and approach to the senior leadership team and provide input to support a holistic approach to organizational decisions
  • Analyze, refine, and evaluate design for current programming as well as the identification and development of expanded mission scope
  • In partnership with operational teams, ensure programmatic metrics and KPIs inform operational service delivery
  • Maintain the process and quality control of doctrine, guidance and standards for the Programs and Operations teams
  • Guide the Client Experience strategy and function throughout the organization
  • Oversee and action client feedback through the client accountability system
  • Drive the future of learning strategies into all volunteer learning curriculum
  • Partner with People Ops to expand the talent development function through new learning solutions and methods
  • Oversee the growth and professionalism of TR’s skills cadres e.g. Heavy Equipment, Chainsaw operators, Incident Command System, etc
  • Grow industry partnerships for collaboration expanded service delivery
  • Grow Team Rubicon’s brand through participation at select public speaking events and conferences

Experience and Background:

  • 10 – 15 years of relevant experience in the military, humanitarian, and/or emergency management community
  • Bachelor’s degree in Humanitarian Assistance, Emergency Management, Public Administration, Social Work, Urban Planning, or Organization Development or relevant work experience. Masters degree a plus
  • Background and experience in programmatic and organizational monitoring and evaluation is a plus
  • Membership and/or leadership roles with industry associations (International Association of Emergency Managers, National Voluntary Organizations Active in Disaster, Interaction, etc.) is a plus
