Position Summary:

HIAS Guyana is seeking to recruit a consultant to provide clinical and case management supervision to a multidisciplinary team of GBV, MHPSS and Protection Officers who provide humanitarian assistance to vulnerable migrant and refugee populations, in particular women at risk and/or survivors of gender-based violence. The assignment will consist in an average of 3 hours per month divided into 2 sessions to be implemented remotely (or potentially on site), initially from February to September 2021. Additional working time might be allocated for the completion of deliverables (final report) if needed. This position supports HIAS Refugee Rights Framework by supporting forcibly displaced migrants and refugee right to be protected from violence and discrimination and the right to recovery from the shock of displacement. The consultant reports to the HIAS Guyana Program Manager.

Department: HIAS Guyana | Location: Remote – short-term consultancy

Essential Functions:

  1. Implement monthly clinical supervision sessions with Mental Health and Psychosocial Support staff.
  2. Implement monthly case management supervision sessions with MHPSS, GBV and Protection area staff.
  3. Provides regular feedback on the progress of the assignment and a final report including concrete recommendations for the setting up of standardized procedures for front line staff supervision within HIAS’ Guyana.

Qualifications and Requirements:

  • University degree in Clinical Psychology, counseling psychology or clinical social work, or related field.
  • At least 3 years of relevant experience in MHPSS and protection-related multidisciplinary case management in humanitarian settings, preferably working with refugees and/or forcibly displaced populations.
  • Demonstrated experience in training and supervising MHPSS and case management frontline staff in conflict or crisis contexts.
  • Exceptional understanding of core MHPSS interventions utilized in emergency settings (e.g., WHO scalable mental health interventions, Psychological First Aid, community-based strategies, etc.)
  • Displays cultural, gender, religion, race, ethnicity, and age sensitivity and adaptability.
  • Excellent interpersonal, communication, facilitation, and presentation skills.
  • Fluency in Spanish and English required.
  • Ability to uphold the highest level of integrity and confidentiality.
  • Passionate about HIAS’ mission and values.
