Position: Team Lead for international staff, North East Syria

Scope: full time

Fixed-term: 6 months of deployment, during the first 4 weeks the notice period will be 2 weeks, afterwards 4 weeks

Earliest start: 15th of March

About CADUS

CADUS e.V. (CADUS) is a non-profit and independent aid organization based in Berlin with a sub-branch in Erbil, KR-Iraq. Our work is primarily concerned with providing medical support to people in crisis situations. These can range from sudden onset disasters to protracted and complex slow-onset emergencies. We aim to enable transformation of knowledge and technology. Together with local communities, we want to develop new and innovative projects that are both adapted to local conditions and actively shaped by recipients of humanitarian aid. Context of the position

To support our international team in NES deployed for our project in Al Hol camp, CADUS e.V. is looking for a Team Lead (international), taking the lead on organizing our team of expats working in the Field Hospital as well as acting as focal point for their safety and security situation in field.

Responsibilities and Tasks:

Crew Care and travel

  • Support and supervision of expat team

  • Support international staff during their daily routine

  • Regular debriefings within the international team, briefings for new arrivals

  • Secure well-being of international staff while being deployed in NES

  • Organize and facilitate travels of international team members from and to NES

  • Monitor travel regulations and access restrictions to KR-Iraq and Northeast Syria and support international staff with travel arrangements and permissions with authorities.

Safety and Security focal point in-field

  • Organizing movement inside NES including logistics for daily travels

  • Security briefings for international team members

  • Assessment and monitoring of security situation in NES and the region

  • Provide technical input for safety and security related policies in Northeast Syria

  • Implement, assess and if necessary adjust security related protocols

  • Provide technical input for safety and security manual

  • Security focal point for international team

  • Prepare and conduct security assessments

  • Prepare and supervise security trainings for international and local staff in coordination with local security focal point

  • Provide technical input and implement CADUS contingence planning for NES

  • Assess travel restrictions and policies during travels on a daily basis

Administration Support: Support project Coordination and project management assistant in assigned tasks

Required Skills and Qualification

  • Minimum 2 years of experience working with humanitarian/corporate sector in similar function

  • Fluency in English (in writing and speaking), Arabic or Kurdish is an asset

  • Proven track record of security related trainings or experience in a security related field

  • Organized and structured working approach and demonstrated experience in working in conflict context and complex international setting.

  • Proactive and assertive attitude where needed

  • Excellent interpersonal skills, problem solving skills, patience and diplomacy.

  • Being able to handle high level of frustration

  • Experienced with handling international teams in stressful and complex situation
