The British Embassy, Israel has a vacancy for the position of Handyperson, Grade – S2.

Overview of the role:

Our Estates team is expanding and you have the opportunity to play a key role in maintaining the Embassy offices and residential properties.

Main Responsibilities:

  • Hands-on day to day maintenance works in all office and residential properties, as required. Such as, window cleaning, gutter cleaning and small repairs.
  • Assisting the Ambassador’s residence team with events. This will include preparation, assistance during events and post event activities (located in Ramat Gan).
  • Carrying out Planned Preventive Maintenance (PPM) in all office and residential properties, as required.
  • Carrying out selected safety inspections in office and residential properties, as required.
  • Assisting the Estates team with property moves.
  • Additional office and general assistance to the Estates team as required.
  • Ad-Hoc tasks at the Ambassador’s Residence including cleaning and tidying.

Essential:

  • Conversational communication skills in English and Hebrew.
  • Excellent interpersonal skills.
  • Knowledge of maintenance skills.
  • Valid driving licence.

Desirable:

  • Ability to move medium to heavy weight objects.
  • Self-starter and able to manage own time effectively.
  • Experienced with electrical and/or plumbing works.

Working Hours and Remuneration:

The Embassy aims to offer an attractive working environment and remuneration package for this role, including the non-negotiable salary of NIS 7,285 per month plus social benefits: Pension employer contribution 7.5% and Keren Hishtalmut employer contribution 7.5%.  The successful candidate will be on a four-month probationary period.  Parking facilities are not provided or paid for by the embassy.

The Embassy invests in staff’s development with a variety of learning and development opportunities.

No accommodation or relocation expenses are payable in connection with this position.

Working hours are Monday to Thursday 8:00-16:00 and Friday 8:00-13:30 – total of 37.5 weekly hours. Office is based in Tel Aviv.

Eligibility: 

If you are selected for this position, we will be able to employ you as long as you:

  • Receive the appropriate level of security clearance;
  • Candidates must be able to work legally in Israel.
