Main purpose of job:

Support the Home Office team with administrative and background research tasks.

Roles and responsibilities / what will the jobholder be expected to achieve?:

General Administration:

  • Plan and manage visit programmes and meetings for senior UK officials.
  • Manage the reporting and record keeping, including that of formal international agreements, financial reporting and reporting to the UK.
  • Provide day to day administrative support to the Home Office Team, including arranging appointments, information dissemination, and VC/teleconference scheduling, travel bookings

Home Office

  • Conduct background research on public and political developments relating to data sharing, crime, policing, immigration, and border security issues.
  • Aid in compiling the monthly Home Office note.
  • Secretariat the cross embassy law enforcement working group. Schedule meetings, take note, and coordinate quarterly report.

Science and Technology

  • Assisting Counsellor Security and Counter Terrorism Science & Technology on variety of task including maintaining records of international agreements, progress of specific science and technology projects, financial transactions and transfers of science and technology reports – facilitating and liaising with legal advisers and US counterparts as required.
  • Undertake research as required, including sourcing biographies, background information on organisations and issues.

  • A bachelor’s degree.
  • Interest and experience of homeland security/criminal justice / science and technology work preferred.
  • Able to deliver reliable results that are of a good quality and meet agreed deadlines, with minimal supervision.
  • Effectively problem-solve and prioritize conflicting workloads accordingly.
  • Work effectively with others.
  • Demonstrate positive communication and interpersonal abilities including: excellent written and verbal communication skills, and the ability to be professional, courteous when dealing directly with key players at a senior level both inside and outside the Embassy.
  • Demonstrate positive logistical skills and a fast-paced environment.
  • Effectively use technology and fully proficiency in Microsoft Office applications with the ability to apply these skills to the job (inc Microsoft Word, Outlook, Excel).
