The British Embassy in Warsaw is part of a world-wide network, representing British political, economic and consular interests overseas and is now looking to recruit an energetic, enthusiastic, self-starter and motivated Key Account Manager to work in the Department for International Trade (DIT).

The DIT helps UK-based businesses to export to Poland and other international markets and it works with the best European companies to encourage them to invest in the UK. The successful jobholder will join the DIT Team in Warsaw to help UK companies to succeed in accessing high value business opportunities in infrastructure in Poland and Europe Central. The role entails working with senior stakeholders in the UK and local contacts in Poland to deliver ambitious Europe Central regional performance targets in the Infrastructure sector and to support UK businesses in overcoming the market access barriers.

Main roles and responsibilities:

  • Support the Team Leader in driving the Infrastructure campaign in Poland to deliver high value export wins for the UK companies;
  • Identify opportunities for the UK companies in relevant sub-sectors of infrastructure (rail, airports, construction, smart cities, ports, water managements and others);
  • Match the UK offering/capabilities to local market opportunities to help optimise UK business development in Poland and the Europe Central region;
  • Manage project delivery, promotional and follow up activities to meet annual performance targets;
  • Develop relations between government & industry stakeholders to support the modernisation of transport infrastructure in Poland and to introduce UK experience to the Polish market;
  • Support the Team Leader in organising webinars, conferences, events, study visits;
  • Co-operate closely with other Embassy teams, relevant external stakeholders and DIT colleagues across Central Europe and wider European region.

  • Fluency at a C level in English and Polish (both oral and written);
  • At least 2 years’ experience in working in a relevant business environment;
  • A college / university level degree
  • Strategic commercial and economic awareness;
  • Experience of working autonomously, as well as being part of an international team
  • Experience of business development and in delivering results;
  • Strong experience in developing relationships with customers and stakeholders;
  • Excellent interpersonal and communication skills;
  • Strong IT computer skills using Microsoft Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Office and Internet.
  • Working co-operatively with others and building relations.

  • Understanding of and experience in the infrastructure sector (such as rail, airports, ports, smart cities sectors);
  • An innovative attitude especially towards customer service and performance management;
  • Experience in delivering events, both in-person and online;
  • Experience in working in a bigger network with regular on-line communication with colleagues from different countries.

This is a full-time fixed-term position of 5 days (37.5 net per week) for 1 year. 

The gross salary for this position is PLN 8,462 gross per month. Working hours are flexible and staff are entitled to time-off-in-lieu for agreed extra hours worked. The annual leave entitlement is 20 or 26 days per year pro rata and the Embassy also enjoys a maximum of 14 Polish / UK public holidays per year. 

Please note that staff members are responsible for paying any income tax required by the local law. 

The successful candidate will be subject to the Polish references check and satisfactory completion of a probationary period of three months. 

Candidates must have pre-existing right to live and work in Poland for the duration of the job offer in order to apply. The British Embassy does not sponsor work permits. 

Staff recruited locally by the British Embassy in Warsaw are subject to Terms and Conditions of Service according to Polish employment law. 

Visa / Passport requirements: Candidates must currently hold the independent right to live and work in Poland and be prepared to ensure that right remains throughout the scope of the contract. Please note that it is your responsibility to ensure you meet the legal requirements to live and work in this country. 

Working patterns 

BE Warsaw has a strong commitment to work/life balance. Office hours are 8:30 – 16:30, staff are encouraged to leave on time. Flexi-hours are also possible within the Embassy building’s opening hours (0800-1800). 

We have mobile technology and most staff in the team work from home one day a week in normal circumstances.
