Main purpose of job:
To assist the British High Commission’s Trade Policy team on market access, company support and administration related tasks. You will be a crucial part of friendly and growing team at a critical time for the UK and India’s trading relationship.
The Trade Policy Team works on the UK-India bilateral trade relationship, providing analysis, direction and reporting, as well as engaging with key stakeholders in business, the UK government and the Government of India. The jobholder will need to be flexible in answering to changes in scope and priorities of the trade policy team.
The primary role of the jobholder will be to assist UK companies across different sectors to do business in India and work to minimize challenges in their export and investment journey in India with the possibility of working across other priority sectors for DIT. You will play a key role in helping UK companies which trade with, and invest in, India, directly promoting jobs in the UK and India.
Roles and responsibilities / what will the jobholder be expected to achieve?:
Bespoke advice to Businesses
- Be the first point of contact to address queries from UK businesses on regulations and incumbent policies in India. Work across the High Commission network to provide advice and support companies, including liaising with the relevant Government of India departments, where appropriate, to unblock barriers faced by UK businesses.
- Monitor and create reports on emerging trends, changes in policies and state level regulations in India to provide bespoke advice in a quick turnaround time.
Event and Visits
- Provide assistance and lead on organising events and roundtables for UK businesses with the Government of India. The jobholder will also work with colleagues and/or lead the organisation of internal events such as team receptions and the bilateral events, among others.
- Provide support to existing G2G mechanisms with Government of India set up to facilitate investment and resolve specific issues for British companies in India.
Contacts Database Management
- Maintain and timely update the database of UK companies and Government of India contacts and work with the trade team assistant to ensure the core internal database is updated.
- Management of strategic relationships with industry contacts, and relevant Government departments in Delhi, including updating our internal SRM (strategic relationship management) tools.
- Update the internal CRM (customer relationship management) tool with entries of interaction with key stakeholders.
Graduate/post-graduate. Candidates without that level of educational qualifications but with an exceptional practical background will be considered.
3-5years of relevant work experience.
Desirable:
- Prior experience of working on trade promotion, including with foreign businesses.
- Marketing and Presentation skills
- Knowledge about India business environment or experience of interacting with a variety of stakeholders and working in a multi-cultural environment.
- Knowledge of programme management would be a plus.

Please note: This is a full time role. The candidate can be located at any of our 9 offices across India – New Delhi, Mumbai, Bangalore, Hyderabad, Chennai, Kolkata, Ahmedabad, Chandigarh, and Pune.
For BHC candidates, the Local BHC Terms & Conditions will apply.
For other than BHC candidates, Basic Salary will be INR 63,333 per month together with a 12% provident fund and 6% Special Allowance.

No relocation or any other related costs or assistance will be provided. Notional tax will be deducted if you are not liable to pay local tax.
