The Department for International Trade (DIT) is the UK Government department charged with securing UK and global prosperity by promoting and financing international trade and investment, and championing free trade. In the Philippines, DIT works with colleagues in the British Embassy Manila and other partners to deliver trade objectives. In APAC, DIT has over 200 staff working across 13 countries stretching from New Zealand to Myanmar.
Main purpose of job:
The Intern will assist the DIT team in the delivery of various Campaign projects e.g. MedTech Virtual Trade Mission, UK-PH Cyber Security Forum, PH Infra Outlook Webinar, Global BETT Education World Forum and other business-focused activities. The Intern will play his/her role as part of the delivery team, working alongside colleagues from DIT and the British Chamber of Commerce. He/she will also assist the DIT in identifying export opportunities, disseminating such opportunities via the DIT portal, and managing/recording client feedback. He/she will also assist in uploading Service Deliveries into the DIT Datahub.
Roles and responsibilities:
- Monitor business and economic updates relevant to DIT campaign sectors and help in identifying and encoding “Export Opportunities” into the DIT Portal, as well as “Service Deliveries” into the Datahub.
- Perform operational and administrative functions to assist in the delivery of DIT projects and trade/investment events, to ensure that these activities go smoothly and any problems arising are resolved swiftly.
- Conduct market research, validation of local contacts, and arrangement of meetings to assist UK companies do business in the Philippines.
- Assist in other administrative requirements, as necessary.
- Willing to work full-time at DIT for 4 consecutive months
- Background in business, research, economics or related courses would be an advantage
- With IT knowledge, e.g. Word and Excel
- Fluent in spoken and written English
- Good written and verbal communication skills

The role being advertised is a full-time internship for four (4) months, with a stipend of PhP10,500 per month. Work hours is 36 hours/week Monday to Friday – 8.00 to 17.00.
No accommodation or relocation expenses are payable in connection with this position. You must have work authorisation for the Philippines in order to apply.
Employment offers are subject to successful clearance of pre-employment checks.
Candidates are expected to have a valid NBI Clearance.
