Housekeeper

The British Embassy in Bosnia and Herzegovina (BiH) is part of a world-wide network, representing British political, economic and consular interests overseas and is now looking to recruit an Residence Housekeeper to the British Embassy in Sarajevo.

 

The Residence Housekeeper will ensure Her Majesty Ambassador (HMA) Residence is clean and tidy keeping it representable and fit for its purpose.

 

Main Duties and Responsibilities:

  • Keeping the Residence clean and in good order at all times;
  • Looking after Residence linen and furnishings.  Maintaining clothes used for official purposes;
  • Assisting Residence Manager/Cook in preparation of large events;
  • Maintaining contact and communication with CS section and Security Officers regarding any immediate needs of the Residence;
  • Closely coordinate with occupants and front office on work priorities;
  • Ensuring Residence is comfortable and business friendly environment for official guests;
  • Monitor any changes to the inventory and inform the Residence Manager;
  • Keep the log of utility bills.

  • Previous experience in housekeeping, preferably in an international environment;
  • Verbal and written proficiency in one of the BiH constituent languages (Bosnian, Serbian, Croatian);
  • A2 level of written and spoken English;
  • Excellent interpersonal skills and ability to network and work collaboratively with others;
  • Ability to think creatively but also to follow procedures;
  • Flexibility and ability to learn quickly;
  • Ability to use MS Word and Outlook.

  • Basic culinary knowledge.

This is a full-time position of 5 working days, 41 hours per week.

 

The position is offered initially for one year with a possibility of  extension upon successful completion of a three month probation period and subject to the availability of funding.

 

British Embassy Sarajevo supports flexible working options.

 

British Embassy Sarajevo will provide opportunities for learning and development, including dedicated courses on project and programme management, financial management, monitoring and evaluation and other project management skills, and opportunities to network and learn from others performing similar roles elsewhere in the region.

 

The successful candidate will be subject to professional background and security clearance and must have pre-existing work authorisation for Bosnia-Herzegovina in order to apply.

 

The successful candidate will be hired under the Terms and Conditions of British Embassy Sarajevo and social contributions will be paid accordingly.

 

The monthly salary for this position is 2260 BAM gross per month. In addition, members of staff receive a meal allowance and transport allowance as per Terms & Conditions.

 

Staff members recruited locally by the British Embassy in Bosnia-Herzegovina are subject to Terms and Conditions of Service according to local Bosnia-Herzegovina employment law.
