The British Embassy in Riga is part of a world-wide network, representing British political, economic and consular interests overseas and is now looking to recruit a Security Guard.

As a full-time member of a team of security guards you will be responsible for the security of the British Embassy compound and external perimeter, vehicle searches, escorting visitors and maintaining an accurate log of events. The successful candidate will be required to work in shifts, including night time, public holidays and weekends.

Main roles and responsibilities:

  1. The primary responsibility of the guard is to control access and observe internal and external territory of the Embassy.
  2. Security of staff, Offices and Residences.
  3. Perimeter patrols.
  4. Search visitors and their bags.
  5. Vehicles bomb search.
  6. Consular/Visa Section access control.
  7. CCTV system control.
  8. Mail search.(X-ray, chemical).
  9. Raise alarms, incident response, liaison with police.
  10. General administration (e.g. Occurrences register, mail, flags).
  11. Training (e.g. self-defence, professional security, languages).

  • Experience in a security related field of employment (Police, Military, Private Security)
  • A good working level of Latvian.
  • A good working level of English.

  • Valid security guard certificate will be considered an advantage
  • A valid driver’s licence will be considered an advantage
  • A working level of Russian will be considered an advantage

This is a full-time, permanent position with a 3 month probation.

Embassy provides all its employees the following benefits:

Visa/work permit requirements: Candidates must currently hold the independent right to live and work in Latvia and be prepared to ensure that right remains throughout the scope of the contract.
