UNICEF works in some of the world’s toughest places, to reach the world’s most disadvantaged children. To save their lives. To defend their rights. To help them fulfill their potential.

Across 190 countries and territories, we work for every child, everywhere, every day, to build a better world for everyone.

And we never give up.

For every child, hope

The Private Sector Fundraising and Partnerships (PSFP) section within PFP works with National Committees and UNICEF country offices to maximize financial and non-financial support for children.

Over the past two years, the amount of workload associated with the Deputy Director (PSFP)’s office has increased greatly, and, as PSFP is the largest and most impacted section within PFP, the office is now required to co-lead PFP’s engagement in the organizational change initiative.

In addition, a number of other specific projects need support, including the preparation of the private sector RM strategy for COVAX, the Fundraising Leadership programme, the Acceleration and Adaptation change programme.

Appropriate backfill and better directed resource is needed to ensure the DD’s office operates effectively to both lead and proactively support the full section in delivering results for children. We are seeking for a consultant temporarily to provide surge support for a period.

How can you make a difference?

The consultant is expected to provide project and surge support to the Planning Manager in the DD (PSFP)’s office.

MAIN TASKS

  • Support the Planning Manager in the monitoring of the PSFP Section expenditure budget.
  • Support the Planning Manager in coordinating PSFP elements of the 2022-25 strategic plan.
  • Co-ordinate the development and monitoring of the risk management matrix.
  • Support the Fundraising Think Tank in taking notes and ensuring follow up actions are taken.

DELIVERABLES

  • Effective project management and support of key projects within the section.
  • Full visibility on the state of play vis a vis section budgets during the consultancy period.
  • Proactive engagement and contribution of the PSFP section in both the strategic planning and the organisational change management processes.
  • Updated 2021 risk matrix that reflects the risks of the section well and is managed proactively.
  • Effective working of the Think Tank and wider relations with Fundraising Directors.
  • Effective preparation for, and follow up from, key meetings e.g. presentation decks prepared, brief notes written and shared quickly, proactive follow up taken.

ESTIMATED DURATION OF THE CONTRACT AND PROPOSAL

It is anticipated that this contract will run for 11.5 months, tentatively starting in December 2020.
