You will take a proactive approach to positioning CARE with key donors and contributing to the delivery of CARE’s Vision 2030. You will have a strong and proven ability to identify, mitigate and escalate pipeline, delivery and financial risk, deliver accurate financial forecasts, and manage budgets well. The ideal post holder will have worked in challenging / politically complex conflict-affected environments and will have experience of development and peacebuilding programming as well as humanitarian. It is essential to have a strong grasp of current trends, debates and commitments in the international development and humanitarian landscape, and to understand the requirements of CIUK’s main donors.

About the role

Over the next 6 months, the Head of Humanitarian’s work will be crucial in securing new partnerships with the Foreign, Commonwealth and Development Office (FCDO) that help CARE to deliver our goal to support 50 million people around the world with humanitarian assistance over the next decade. The role-holder will lead a multi-functional team of ten people working with 60+ CARE country offices to design and implement humanitarian programmes, ranging from rapid-onset START Fund programming to multi-year resilience-focussed programming in protracted crises. The role-holder will also be CIUK’s main humanitarian representative in the UK, and work with peers in groups such as the FCDO-NGO humanitarian directors’ forums, the Disasters Emergency Committee and the START Fund Assembly to influence humanitarian policy and practice in the UK.
