Job description

We are looking for a 6 months media/journalist and corporate communication student placement candidate. This is a great opportunity for a student to join an organisation in the process of setting up and shaping its media strategy. You will be a part of mapping and researching suitable media outlets and their style and shape a strategy on how to approach them. You will be part of training the organisation spokespeople and shaping the style and tone to be used. You will write press releases, feature articles and press briefings on a broad range of topics in the field of food, health and food safety. EUFIC is a high pace environment so you will be exposed to a high level of responsibility in a very motivated team, a perfect environment for learning.

Key responsibilities:

Specific activities will include, but will not be limited to:

  • Conducting online research mapping media outlets
  • Researching and writing press releases, articles and press briefings
  • Contribute to develop corporate communication documents and materials, like annual reports, reporting on achievements and key performance indicators (KPIs)
  • Assisting with social media to share updates on EU-funded projects and initiatives
  • Assisting in developing communication and outreach plans involving individuals, media, academia, etc.
  • Assisting in communication projects to inject science-based information in the public debate

Additional responsibilities may include:

  • Specific administrative tasks as they arise
  • Assisting in event planning and organisations
  • Assisting in preparing internal documents (eg meeting minutes and other materials)

Educational requirements, experience and skills

  • a MSc student in their last-year student placement. The last-year BSc students can also apply, but a priority will be given to extraordinarily convincing candidates. Interns must be able to commit to at least 6 months.
  • must be enrolled as a student throughout the duration of your internship.
  • committed, enthusiastic, and passionate about EUFIC’s mission
  • able to collaborate with a multicultural team, across multiple projects
  • able to work independently, with a positive and flexible attitude
  • creative and motivated to propose new ideas, and to question the status quo with confidence
  • versatile and confident when communicating on all levels
  • fluent in English, with strong written and oral communication skills; additional languages (French, Spanish, Italian and German in particular) are a strong asset

Job conditions

Trainees enjoy the following:

  • Due to the Current COVID-19 circumstances, all interns will most likely work remotely. We will reassess this according to the advice from the Belgian government.
