The British Embassy Manila is a large diplomatic mission delivering a dynamic and rapidly expanding programme of activity in support of the UK’s objectives on prosperity, security and consular matters. Main purpose of job:

The Global Transaction Processing centre makes approx. 16,000 payments a month and provides financial transactional services to Embassies in Africa, Eastern Europe, Middle East and Asia.  We are looking for regional finance officers to process financial transactions accurately, timely and according to financial guidance. 

There are 4 teams and once probation is confirmed, officers may be moved between teams depending on business need. 

Each Team is responsible for the following:

Supplier Maintenance and PO Team

    • Set up Suppliers on Oracle and relevant banking platforms.
    • Create Purchase Orders on Oracle
    • Set up Distribution Sets.

    Invoice Team

    • Review and process invoices, debit and credit memos, staff expenses, distribution sets and payroll. 

    Payment Team

    • Prepare payment batches and process payments, including payroll on banking platforms.

    Accounts Receivable

    • Enter receipts onto Oracle and provide initial data check of Network Post Accounts

    Roles and responsibilities / what will the jobholder be expected to achieve?

    Finance Officers (A1) are expected to perform the following duties:

    • Check all financial documents to ensure they meet compliance procedures before processing.
    • Escalate non-compliant documents to line manager.
    • Enter all compliant financial transactions on Oracle within the relevant Service Level Agreements
    • Archive document according to relevant data management policies. 
    • Keep up to date with Standard Operating procedures attending monthly training sessions.
    • Work collaboratively across teams to ensure the whole team is able to meet Service Level Agreements.
    • Keep relevant documentation/guidance on Sharepoint up-to-date.
    • Escalate to line manager any issues with non-compliance of process. 

    • Fluency in English, both oral and written.
    • Procure To Pay/Accounts payable experience.
    • Experience with Microsoft Office.

    • Diploma/Degree holder (preferably in Finance or equivalent). 
    • Exposure to financial systems such as Oracle.
    • Experience of working in a Shared Service environment.
    • Experience of delivering a regional service.

    The two temporary positions being advertised are on a fixed-term contract of 3 months, with a possibility of extension up to 6 months.

    The British Embassy offers a competitive compensation package, 36-hour work week, guaranteed 13th and 14th month pay, 20 days paid annual leave (calculated on Pro-rata basis if joined after 1 January), extensive medical insurance, life insurance and access to a guaranteed 5 days of learning opportunities a year.
